English Civil War Musket Displays

Make Ready!!

Musket Drill was a new art of the 17th Century for rarely had the musket been deployed in such numbers.

Taken from the drill manuals of the time the display takes us through the playing of the chords and the 34 separate drill steps to load and fire the musket when required.

Each step is explained for its purpose and function on the battlefield and in the unit. Our musketeers will then demonstrate that all 34 can be done as one seamless movement from the command “Make Ready”.

Then on the command of give fire they will do exactly that.

Firing drills such as firing by rank will be demonstrated, with all the noise and smoke of the battlefield and rounding off with the Swedish Salvo where all musketeers fire off one shot simultaneously.

As is customary following the demonstration our musketeers are available to interact with your visitors.

Please note – muskets operate under a shotgun license and for legal reasons they may not be as “hands on” as some of our other displays.

Please contact Foreign Field for further information and quotes.
