People of the War Show

This display runs similar to a fashion parade. The commentator accompanying the show will talk of the uniforms, regiments and services performed by many of the different branches of service during the war.

11.45

Draft and Drill Show

Fall your kids in and have them looking lively as our Drill Sergeant runs them through the paces of basic training.

12.30

Gunnery Display

Our commentator will cover the manufacture, history and use of these weapons, both Allied and Axis and compare the advantages / disadvantages of each in the field. For a fuller idea of how each weapon looks and sounds, it will be fired.

14.45

Vive la Resistance!

Prior to the battle display the battlefield is scouted and sabotaged by members of the French Resistance followed by a brief exchange of fire. This demonstrates many tactics used in the guerrilla war against occupation in France and the sometimes heroic and sometimes futile actions of the French.

15.30

Victory in Europe

As a climactic close to the day a loud and explosive demonstration of the combat of the Second World War as the Allies come to liberate the railway. This shows the ordeal that the Second World War soldier had to endure.

Throughout the day:

  • Home Life demonstrations including washing
  • Try your hand with the 1940s Fire Fighting Equipment
  • Songs by the Moonlight Serenaders
  • Static displays of weapons and equipment
  • Military Vehicles
  • Traders

Times are provisional and listed to give an idea of the structure of the day.
