25th - 26th October 2008 - Building 21, Elsecar Heritage Centre

The Venue

The award winning Elsecar Heritage Centre is an exciting History and Craft Centre, set in the attractive conservation village of Elsecar and surrounded by beautiful South Yorkshire countryside. The Centre is located within the former ironworks and colliery workshops of the Earls Fitzwilliam, where visitors can explore the attractively restored buildings and monuments, wander alonside the Dearne and Dove Canal and follow footpaths including a branch of the Trans-Pennine Trail. .

Building 21 is located within the Elsecar Heritage Centre, and is one of the areas largest indoor spaces available for hire. Dating from 1860 the building is entirely open plan, with no viewing restrictions, and manages to be a modern venue while still having character and a sense of heritage, adding a touch of individuality to any event.

The venue consists of 1287 square metres of multi-purpose space. Due to its open plan nature it is multi-functional with an endless variety of set-up possibilities.

Buidling 21 has served many purposes over the years from a locomotive repair shed to an engineering workshop, but since being taken over by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council the building has been fully modernised with:-

  • Purpose fitted solid vinyl floor surface
  • Computer controlled heating system throughout the hall
  • Exhibition lighting
  • Electrical points around the building, including central floor sockets (13amp)
  • Toilet facilities, including disabled and Baby changing rooms
  • Bar
  • Kitchen facilities
  • Large vehicle access doors
  • 3-Phase power supply if required
