HISTORIC
BATTLES BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE
24 March
2006
An annual
festival remembering
the sacrifices that people from the region have played in
conflicts throughout history may appear on the calendar of
events in Brownhills.
Brownhills
Community Association is to play host to a Second World War
battle display as part of a wide range of events to celebrate
the association's 25 years in operation.
The event,
organised by the Association and Foreign Field Events, will
also feature representatatives from the modern armed forces
with the Staffords and the Royal Navy present with equipment
and displays.
Other
activities throughout the weekend, on July 22 and 23, will
include drill and training displays that children can take
part in, as well as deomnstrations of both disposal and medical
work.
Ian Mattox,
of the Community Association, said: "We have been organising
events in the community for the last 25 years, but this will
be the biggest yet with battle displays and an evening's dancing
and entertainment.
"We
are pleased to bring history alive in the community. The weekend
will be an action packed, fun filled outing for all the family
and raise important funds for our development projects projects
within the Brownhills Community."
Paul Bavill,
of Foreign Field Events, said "The enthusiasm of the
Community Association has been incredible and going forward
we hope to make this an annual festival festival remembering
the sacrifices that people from the West Midlands as a whole
have played in conflicts throughout history."
